What to Expect
Prior to your first appointment I will send you the intake paperwork via email to complete in order to initiate services. Once I receive the paperwork back from you, I will reach out to get your first appointment scheduled.

During our initial appointment (often referred to as an intake session) you can expect to work collaboratively to gather background information on your social history, concerns that brought you to therapy, and treatment planning for goals you desire to focus on in therapy. This session typically lasts 60 minutes.

During follow-up appointments you can expect to focus on the goals that brought you to therapy through self-exploration and skill development. These sessions typically last 50 minutes. The number of follow-up appointments required is different for each individual and will depend on a number of factors such as severity of the issues, number of therapy goals, motivation for change, and progress towards goals.

If you are choosing to engage in Walk and Talk Therapy, we will first meet via a virtual telehealth session to discuss what is bringing you to therapy and what your goals for therapy are. This initial session will last 60 minutes. We will develop our Walk and Talk Therapy plan which can include walking or nature-based therapy activities for those willing to meet within 20 mile radius of Dubuque. We will spend some time talking about best-practices to maintain confidentiality during our outdoor sessions, locate an outdoor setting that works best for you, and develop a backup plan for inclement weather. Follow-up Walk and Talk Therapy sessions last 50 minutes.
